I didn't come to mentoring from a place of having it all together. I came to it because someone mentored me when I had no business being mentored—when my story looked like a disqualification, not a calling.

I grew up on a broken foundation. Made it to Bible College, which felt like proof that maybe God had something for me after all. Then I got pregnant after my second year. And just like that, the story I was writing for myself stopped making sense.

For years after that—even as an adult, even in ministry—I carried a quiet belief that my past had ruled me out. I stayed small and settled for just being in the room.

I didn't come to mentoring from a place of having it all together. I came to it because someone mentored me when I had no business being mentored—when my story looked like a disqualification, not a calling.

That moment is why I mentor. That moment is why 4th Gen Mentoring exists. I know what it changes when someone sees you before you can see yourself.
